Dress Code
We are a progressive, modern and inclusive golf club but the traditions of golf remains important to us.
A reasonable standard of dress is required at all times and our dress code has been put in place to reflect this.
Members and Visitors alike are required to adhere and support the dress code policy.
Dress code on the golf course for players and their caddies means standard appropriate golf attire.
On the Course
The club wishes to preserve a ‘smart but casual’ approach based on clothing that is principally designed for golf.
-
Trousers:
Not allowed - denim jeans, tracksuits and military style attire, ¾ or cropped trousers, trousers with leg pockets or work style design, leggings.
-
Shorts:
Not allowed - sports shorts of any kind, shorts with leg pockets or work style design, beach or leisure shorts. Tailored shorts are preferred; however, all shorts must be worn with either long socks or ankle socks that are predominantly white.
-
Shirts:
For men, collared tailored golf shirts tucked into trousers are required.
The club acknowledges that tailored golf shirts without collars are now worn by golf professionals and therefore acceptable, likewise the club acknowledges that at many clubs tailored golf shirts designed to be worn outside of trousers are acceptable. Forest Hill will follow that trend, providing smartness is maintained, please see dress code note below.
There are no guidelines for women’s golf attire other than that it should be appropriate for golf. -
Please note:
The dress code is primarily the responsibility of the Member, Guest, or Visitor. The Golf officials, staff and the Course Marshall will decide whether the dress is acceptable, failure to meet the correct dress standards may result in refusal of entry onto the golf course or removal from the Course.
Shoes / Caps Golfers are reminded that although a small minority of professionals wear a cap back to front, it’s usually not a fashion statement but to keep rain off their neck whilst putting, likewise wearing it as designed is to shade eyes. There is no club rule regarding this, but we request some respect to our overall dress code.
Golf shoes with spikes or soft cleats can be worn as well as smart sports shoes. However, these shoes must not be worn in the clubhouse
Clubhouse, Lounge & Bar Areas
- When using the clubhouse bar and lounge area, we would ask everyone to respect those around them and maintain a smart level of dress.
- Any smart casual clothing, including smart denim (ie not ripped, cut-off, frayed or distressed) is acceptable in the club house although no flip-flops / sliders, singlets, beach style shorts and football shirts please.
- We kindly ask that you please change out of any dirty or wet clothing before entering the clubhouse, bar and lounge areas.
- Rain gear is not permitted in the clubhouse.
- Footwear must be always worn in the club house/patio and walking around in socks or bare feet is not permitted.
- Clean golf shoes are allowed in the member's lounge but not in the bar lounge.
- The interpretation of the dress code lies with the management of the Golf Club. Their decision of whether the person meets the required standard of dress will be final.

Mobile Phones & Electrical Devices
All golfers are advised to carry a mobile phone whilst on the golf course, however, they should only be used when consulting the R&A App for the Rules of Golf or in emergency situations and must remain in silent mode.
The use of electronic devices is permitted in all areas of the Clubhouse, but we ask that they are in silent mode and users consider taking calls outside of the bar and lounge areas for the benefit of other patrons.
